Cassidy Hutchinson, the former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows‘ aide, made some serious allegations during testimony in front of the Stalinist January 6 Committee about her former boss and former President Donald Trump. Most of her testimony was second hand, which means it’s hearsay and would never be allowed in a courtroom.
One of the things she lied about, er… testified about, was Donald Trump strangling a Secret Service agent in a vehicle and then grabbing the steering wheel to change direction of the Camps SUV to head to the US Capitol after his speech on January 6. She said she heard that Trump was angry that the Secret Service would not allow him to go to the Capitol because it was a security nightmare.
Well, Secret Service agents who were there have come forward and said that Hutchinson’s story is more fake than a CNN broadcast.
What’s worse, on Wednesday, the Secret Service’s communication chief said that the agency was never asked to corroborate Hutchinson’s Tuesday testimony, where she claimed with secondhand knowledge that former President Donald Trump tried to commandeer “the Beast” after his rally that day.
According to former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, as soon as he heard the term “the Beast” used as the name of the vehicle that the president travels in, he knew the story was bologna as no one in the Service calls it “the Beast.” Only Hollywood has actors refer to the vehicle as “the Beast.” In fact, the vehicle she referred to was the armored limousine, and that was not the vehicle that the Secret Service took the President back to the White House in. The vehicle Trump traveled in was a black SUV that is referred to as a Camp David vehicle or a Camps vehicle. So the details of her hearsay testimony was all wrong.
“We were not asked to reappear before the Committee in response to yesterday’s new information and we plan on formally responding on the record,” wrote Anthony Guglielmi in an email to Politico. “We have and will continue to make any member of the Secret Service available.”
So, imagine that. Lis Cheney never corroborated the testimony she knew Hutchinson was going to give the committee on Tuesday.
Within hours after Hutchinson’s bullschtein testimony where she threw accusations at Trump, NBC News reported that Trump’s Secret Service man on duty on January 6, Bobby Engel, would testify under oath to contradict Hutchinson’s nonsense story of the former president trying to hijack the vehicle from the Secret Service.
Folks, we’ve seen what the Democrats are capable of, and yes, I consider Liz Cheney a Democrat at this point. They tried for four years to overturn the 2016 election with non-stop accusations of wrongdoing, none of which Trump did. They ran two fraudulent impeachments against him that stunk on ice. For Liz Cheney to allow Hutchinson’s testimony to be given at the hearing shows just how desperate these Trump haters on the panel are to get the former president charged with a crime by Merrick Garland’s DOJ so that he can be convicted and not be allowed to run again in 2024.
After the Secret Service said they were going to debunk Hutchinson’s testimony, her lawyer, Jody Hunt of Alston & Bird, took to social media to claim that his client was just reciting what she heard secondhand.
“Ms. Hutchinson testified, under oath, and recounted what she was told. Those with knowledge of the episode also should testify under oath.
Of course, being a lawyer, Hunt should know that if he allowed his client to give that kind of testimony in a real courtroom, he would probably be sanctions and possibly disbarred.
Of course, the committee will more than likely not bring Secret Service agent Engel back to rebuke Hutchinson’s testimony. We know this because the committee has not allowed rebuttals or cross-examination of any kind throughout their Soviet show trial.
On Wednesday, Politico reported that the committee had already interviewed the Engel, whose testimony “is not known to include the stunning details Hutchinson described.”
“It’s not clear why the select panel didn’t seek further corroboration from the Secret Service as it planned Hutchinson’s hearing,” Politico said. I’ll tell you why. Because they knew Hutchinson was probably lying and corroboration with the Secret Service would have destroyed the bombshell moment that Hutchinson provided.
“Members of the select committee have said they welcome any more information about the Secret Service altercation that witnesses would provide under oath,” Politico added. Don’t hold your breath.
